Singer Jasmine Sandlas's Dream Girl India Tour show in Mohali on Saturday, October 10, has drawn objections from two sides: Sector 67 residents worried about noise and traffic, and a Punjabi-language activist who wants songs about liquor and weapons kept off the setlist. Residents of Sector 67 approached the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and the Punjab Pollution Control Board, fearing noise pollution and congestion, Hindustan Times reported. A GMADA letter dated October 8 refers to a September 9 communication asking the organiser to vacate the area within 30 days over a lease violation, and directs it to stop work and dismantle the stage or face penalties. Residents allege the structure was not removed. Deputy commissioner Komal Mittal said the administration had been told the site was already sold and that organisers have been asked for a no-objection certificate; if they cannot produce one, the matter will be examined.

What does the organiser say?

A spokesperson for AB Alcobev Pvt Ltd, named by residents as the promoter, said the event will proceed as planned, that all necessary approvals are in place, and that claims to the contrary are false and unsubstantiated.

What is the activist's demand?

Sociology professor and Punjabi-language activist Panditrao Dharennavar wrote to the Mohali police asking that songs glorifying weapons, liquor or intoxicants not be performed, naming tracks such as Sip Sip, Whiskey Di Botal and Illegal Weapon, according to HT and The Tribune. DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal said a letter had been received and that no activity violating the letter and spirit of the state's "Yudh Nasheyan Virudh" anti-drug campaign will be allowed.

The concert is scheduled for the evening of October 10 at the Outside Arena, CP-67 Mall. Whether the administration acts on the GMADA notice or the police request had not been reported at the time of writing.
