Where is Latianwala?

Latianwala is a village of Sultanpur Lodhi tehsil in Kapurthala district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sultanpur Lodhi, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sultanpur Lodhi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 029496, and it covers 247 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,910 people in Latianwala: 994 men and 916 women, living in 330 households, an average of about 5.8 people per household. Spread over its 247 hectares, the population density works out to about 775 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 922 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 290, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,856 people, about 97 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 42.41 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 51.08 per cent and women at 33.29 per cent. The census recorded 699 workers, about 37 per cent of the village. Neighbouring villages include Allahditta, Ahmedpur, Gobindgarh and Sherpur Dona.
