Where is Marauri?

Marauri is a village in Samana tehsil of Patiala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Samana, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Samana community development block and is served by the Marori gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036168, and it covers 514 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,316 people in Marauri: 1,656 men and 1,660 women, living in 712 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 514 hectares, the population density works out to about 645 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1002 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 478, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 2,376 people, about 72 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
