Where is Attalgarh?

Attalgarh is a village in Mukerian tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Mukerian, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Mukerian community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031093, and it covers 200 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,856 people in Attalgarh: 948 men and 908 women, living in 389 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 200 hectares, the population density works out to about 928 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 958 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 214, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 635 people, about 34 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 73.51 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 77.58 per cent and women at 69.31 per cent.
